The Shopping Hotbeds in Gurgaon

Dec 30, 2015

Avaricious eyes, reluctant steps, haggling voices and loose purse-strings - these are the traits typical to shoppers, digging out Gurgaon beneath its layers of MNC hub and start-up capital. If you are someone who derives divine pleasure with a fling into shopping, Gurgaon is replete with pulsating shopping precincts, all for you. Let’s take a tour of the markets, you’d love to carry back home in your bags.

Ambience Mall

If you are not of scared of brands costing you an arm and a leg,  Ambience Mall is a full plate with over 250 retail stores sprawling over 1 km of shopping space under one roof. Home to brands like Marks & Spencer’s, Pantaloons, Westside, Big Bazaar besides others, it truly justifies it claims of being an apogee of lifestyle distinction.

Arjun Marg, DLF Phase- 1

Not many know about this tiny shopping complex; it’s a good place, especially if you are looking for some light-on-purse clothing. Though not actually “branded” as the ad boards on shops scream, the apparels here give a nice feel for the price quoted. Besides, you have a rich bookstore, footwear outlets, bakery, a (not so lavish) eatery-joint, and more to keep you engaged on a shopping day out.

Sector 14 Market

Sector 14 in Gurgaon is a good address for shoppers. Not a competition to swanky gallerias, it’s a modest, compact bazaar deserving a special mention for various factory outlets for apparel brands. Electronic items, fashion accessories, stationery, the odd knick-knacks, daily staples, there’s a full bouquet. It’s well on course to being tagged as the Mini Janpath of Gurgaon.

ILD Trade Centre

As you set your foot on the Sohna Road in Gurgaon, a grand junction of brands awaits you at the ILD Trade Centre.  You need not go elsewhere to shop from Redtape, Nike, Samsung, Lee, Monte Carlo, Gini & Jony, Swadeshi Store and many other big names. For us Indians, shopping finds its true flavors with a bit of taste, for which Dunkin' Donuts, KFC, Brewer Street Micro-Brewery, Dana Choga Kitchen, etc. are not so bad places here.

I must admit, the list is long, and to cram all the names in here, would be an injustice to the value they hold. In my later posts, I will keep bringing to you the imagery of the busy streets, the  restless markets, the gleaming malls and the high street gallerias, both popular and not-so-known, so that you know where to shop what, when in Gurgaon.
